What is low-pressure (soft-wash) house washing?
When water is mixed with cleaning solutions and applied to a house’s exterior using low-pressure (think covering a hose-end with your thumb), then organic stains like mold, algae, and insect remains are removed. In some cases, it may take multiple applications of the cleaning solution until an exterior is fully cleaned. Finally, the entire exterior will be rinsed off with water, leaving a clean surface. This process is called a low-pressure house wash or “soft-wash.” The cleaning solution contains mostly water with a unique blend of detergents and can reach up to 3 stories or a bit less on a windy day. This effective washing method is designed to clean, not restore, a surface. Restoration is a different technical process that we currently don’t provide.
Will my house get damaged?
Using low-pressure cleaning methods, your house’s exterior will have all its organic stains removed without ripping out mortar between bricks or stone, stripping paint, or ripping out window seals. If some areas need more pressure, like a wasp nest stuck up in a high corner, then a safe amount of higher pressure will be used.
What about my landscape?
It is true that the chemicals we use to clean your home’s exterior are inherently harmful to plants and grass. However, as professionals, we take extra caution in keeping your plants safe. We will rinse your plants with water before and after any overspray from our cleaning solutions hits your landscape. In some cases, we will put tarps over your plants to protect them fully.
How long will the results last?
Every house is different because several factors determine how long your house will stay clean. For instance, areas with shade or that face away from the sun will usually get dirtier faster than areas that receive sun or are protected from wind and rain. Generally, we recommend having your house cleaned at least once every year to maintain its appearance.
